Rail Switching Technician

Railserve is hiring dependable, safety-focused Rail Switching Technicians in Belle, WV to support daily rail operations at industrial facilities. This is a full-time, outdoor, hands-on role critical to keeping railcars moving safely and efficiently.

In this role, you'll work as part of a team to move, organize, and secure railcars, supporting customer operations and ensuring every move is performed with precision and care. Schedule: 8-hour shifts, MondayFriday, 6am to 2pm, with some occasional overtime

Compensation: $18.00 $20.00 per hour (based on experience)

Duties

• Assist with moving and securing railcars
• Operate switches, gates, and hand brakes
• Connect and disconnect railcars
• Guide locomotives using radio or hand signals
• Monitor track conditions and identify hazards
• Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE
• Perform additional duties to support safe rail operations

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Ability to lift, carry, and handle equipment (up to ~50 lbs)
• Climb on and off railcars, ladders, and platforms
• Ability to wear required PPE without restriction
• Must be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• Ability to pass a drug screen, physical, and background check
• Reliable transportation and strong attendance
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Military experience and experience following detailed procedures is a plus
