Job Summary

Provide Hospitalist services to the patients of the Charleston Area Medical Center, Inc and its affiliates per the terms of the contract.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care to CAMC patients in the field of Hospitalist Medicine in compliance with the highest standards of medical art and science.
  • Deliver care in the appropriate setting and coordinate with the staff present at each site.
  • Take the lead in all patient care issues and be ultimately responsible for the outcome of the encounter.
  • Report to the Chief of Hospital Medicine in collaboration with the assigned associate administrator/administrator regarding clinical practice issues.
  • Maintain active status (category I) with regards to clinical privileges at CAMC.
  • Relate appropriately with patients, staff, corporate management, medical staff and co‑workers.
  • Remain current in medical/surgical knowledge as well as applicable legal and regulatory issues.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Patient Group Knowledge: The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department's identified patient ages.

  1. Ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs.
  2. Knowledge of growth and development.
  3. Understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.

  8. Follow organizational and departmental policies and procedures, as applicable.
