What will you experience in this position located in West Virginia:

Work as a Design Engineer at nVent Management Company crafting metal buildings that meet regulations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design customer-specific metal building structures, either prefabricated or site-built, ensuring compliance with geographical requirements and all government codes.
  • Review new orders for completeness and collaborate with sales teams and customers to gather necessary information.
  • Perform comprehensive analysis on assigned buildings, including roof, wall, accessories, and special structural elements.
  • Run calculations to size HVAC requirements and perform foundation reactions and thermal calculations for building R/U-Values.
  • Record all analysis results and maintain spreadsheets and database programs useful to the engineering and bill of materials teams.
  • Interpret customer drawings and generate CAD drawings.
  • Develop automated tools, processes, and standards to streamline composing processes and reduce manufacturing lead times while ensuring compliance with codes and specifications.
  • Collaborate with team leader, IT leader, and Bill of Materials leader on analysis and special projects, including development of automated tools and standards to simplify design processes and reduce manufacturing lead time, while maintaining compliance.
  • Support the Engineering Lead by writing letters of design certification, preparing design calculations, researching codes or other information, and running analysis as needed.
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, tools, and documentation.

You have:

  • Must have a 4-year degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Must have a minimum of 2+ years of experience in structural building, HVAC systems, and CAD operation. HVAC systems is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, RISA, and AutoCAD.
  • Strong understanding of the International Building Code (IBC) and International Energy Conservation Code (IECC).
  • Must demonstrate strong proficiency in mathematics and the ability to comprehend and analyze drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Must have a proven ability to collaborate effectively with technical and cross-functional teams.
  • Must possess outstanding problem-solving skills and the ability to devise innovative solutions critical to project success.
