Job Title: Coal Handler Location: Winfield, WV 25213 Duration: 3 Years Pay Rate: $29/Hr on W2 12 hour rotating shift schedule. 36 hour days/nights one week 48 hour days/nights the next week. Job Summary: Operate and maintain all coal handling equipment. Perform manual labor and light maintenance related to keeping coal yard equipment clean and maintained. Greasing equipment, cleaning chutes, shoveling coal, washing coal etc. Essential Job Functions & Tasks: 1) Perform cleaning work on the coal conveyor system, such as car dumpers, bunkers, runways, tripper room, belt decks, stacker-reclaimer and tunnels. 2) Load, unload and handle coal, materials, supplies and equipment; where required, couple and uncouple railroad cars; set and release brakes, operate rail switches; signal locomotive operator when to start, stop, go forward or backward; and flag traffic at crossings. Haul and move materials, supplies and equipment; cleaning work of all kinds in, around, and on equipment, buildings, and yard; clean and remove ashes and debris; cut grass and weeds; dig ditches; work on tracks and track beds; replace light bulbs and similar unskilled manual tasks. 3) Operate and perform maintenance on all coal yard related equipment. 4) Clean and perform lubrication on all equipment including conveyors, pumps, large motors and gearboxes and rolling stock. 5) Secure, identify and transport coal samples, as directed. 6) Inspect and test fire equipment. and properly document tests. 7) Operate automotive equipment. 8) Maintain equipment, tools and work areas in a clean and orderly condition. 9) Perform duties in accordance with Company's safety rules, operating regulations and practices and report unsafe conditions and practices. 10) Report irregularities and abnormal conditions to the appropriate supervision. 11) Clear and tag equipment in coal yard area. 12) Assist in training other employees. 13) Assist employees as required. 14) Operate equipment as required for cleaning purposes. 15) Perform similar or less skilled work. Basic Qualifications: Education requirements are listed below: High school degree or equivalent education and experience. Associate degree in technical or scientific field preferred. Work Experience requirement listed below: Must become familiar with the location and layout of coal-handling equipment. Must be able to understand and follow instructions and practices. Must be able to learn to use the tools and equipment required in the work. Must have the physical capabilities to climb and work on or about plant equipment at various elevations. Must comply with all safety rules and regulations. Respond to callouts to maintain and support business operational needs and schedules. Must have mechanical and electrical aptitude and be capable of working on a wide variety of equipment, such as large motors and gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, hydraulic systems, electrical controls (troubleshooting and maintenance), calibration and maintenance of weighing instrumentation and chute plugged switches, welding, cutting and fabrication, etc. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Physical demand level is Medium
