Within Nursing Education, the Diabetes Nurse Educator will help lead a comprehensive diabetes education program that partners closely with endocrinology, primary care, and population health; this diabetes education service is embedded in an Academic, Teaching Hospital setting that serves a regional center of 200+ beds, providing access to simulation labs, modernized units, and data-driven quality dashboards so a diabetic nurse educator can design engaging DSMES pathways, implement evidence-based practice, and advance diabetic nurse education across inpatient, outpatient, and telehealth touchpoints.

Reporting to the Director of Nursing Education (with dotted-line collaboration to the Endocrinology and Population Health leadership), the Diabetes Nurse Educator will receive strong administrative support, friendly nurses as partners, and a diverse healthcare professional team including pharmacy, dietitians, case management, social work, and PT/OT; in this diabetic nurse educator role, typical responsibilities include individualized assessments, DSMES classes, CGM and insulin pump onboarding, medication and hypoglycemia safety teaching, discharge readiness, quality metric tracking, staff coaching and precepting, and community-facing diabetic education that aligns with national guidelines and the CDE scope.
