CEI Project Supervisor - WVDOH Program
Pay: $60/hour
Location: West Virginia (statewide project assignments)
S&ME is seeking an experienced CEI Project Supervisor to support West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH) construction programs. This role is designed for a senior-level field leader who can provide technical oversight, ensure contract compliance, and guide inspection teams.
What You Will Do:
The CEI Project Supervisor serves as the on-site authority for construction engineering and inspection activities. This position oversees daily field operations, manages project documentation, and acts as the primary liaison between S&ME, WVDOH, contractors, and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate brings deep familiarity with WVDOH specifications and standards, strong leadership skills.
- Supervise CEI inspection staff, ensuring daily construction activities align with WVDOH specifications, requirements, and expectations.
- Serve as the primary liaison to WVDOH, communicating project status, issues, and resolutions clearly and professionally
- Provide daily oversight of inspection activities, perform high-level project administration tasks and documentation, including materials certification, preparing estimates, and changing orders.
- Oversee contractor construction schedules, monitor progress, evaluate schedule revisions, delays, and time extensions, requiring familiarity with the Primavera P6 software system.
- Identify and help resolve construction issues, conflicts, or non-conforming work
- Support claims avoidance through proactive documentation, communication, and field coordination
- Ensure all work adheres to WVDOH specifications, environmental requirements, and safety regulations
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma/GED
- Experience:
- 5-10 years of WVDOH construction field experience
- TRETCNO or Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Key Competencies:
- Strong working knowledge of WVDOH specifications, procedures, materials requirements, and documentation systems
- Demonstrated experience supervising inspection staff or leading field operations
- Proficiency with construction documentation platforms, schedule tracking, and contractor coordination
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
This role involves hands-on work in outdoor environments, and with Company-provided Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), you'll need to be comfortable with:
- Working outdoors in varying weather conditions majority of the time
- Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing (potentially up to 12 hours a day)
- Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
- Exposure to highway traffic, heavy machinery
- Working outside of normal business hours and traveling (typically out-of-town and/or overnight) as project needs arise
