Summary:

Join our team as a Lumberjack Specialist, where you will clear brush and assist in tree management for safe and efficient work areas. In this dynamic role, you will utilize axes, chainsaws, and bulldozers to ensure safety in forestry operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct the fall of trees by carefully scoring cutting lines and making strategic cuts.
  • Evaluate and select trees for cutting by considering site, terrain, and weather conditions.
  • Execute cutting operations while maintaining safety protocols and quickly moving to safety as trees fall.
  • Assess trees for various characteristics such as rot or heavy limb growth, determining the best cutting methods.
  • Make precise back-cuts to ensure controlled tree falls.
  • Measure and cut felled trees into specified log lengths using chainsaws and axes.
  • Inspect logs post-cutting to verify quality and compliance with specifications.
  • Plan the position and depth of cuts, using appropriate tools like wedges or jacks to achieve desired results.

Requirements:

  • Physical ability to perform tasks including climbing, lifting, and handling materials.
  • Strong coordination and physical health to work effectively; must be able to lift up to 80 pounds regularly.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma preferred.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in forestry or related fields.
