Senior Construction Project Technician

Description:

GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Senior Construction Project Technician with a WV Transportation Engineering Technician (TRET) level 3 or 4. This role will support highway and bridge projects, primarily collaborating with the WVDOH. We are excited to offer a sign-on bonus for the successful candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure contractor's work aligns with plans and contractual specifications.
  • Perform calculations for contractor payments and ensure accuracy.
  • Read and interpret construction plans and documents effectively.
  • Communicate clearly and efficiently with team members and stakeholders.
  • Write detailed daily technical reports to document progress and issues.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Lifting heavy objects such as testing equipment and material samples.
  • Walk on uneven terrain and work with stairs, ladders, and other elevations.
  • Navigate hazardous environments using required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 16 years of relevant experience in roadway construction.
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Valid Driver's License essential.
  • Advanced knowledge in technical areas and consulting.

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Oversee field monitoring for various construction projects, ensuring compliance with specifications for concrete, earthwork, and materials.
  • Maintain thorough reports and documentation regarding construction activities.

Management and Supervision:

  • Receive administrative supervision with clearly defined objectives.
  • Implement staff development plans focusing on technical and leadership skills.
  • Evaluate team effectiveness regularly.

Communication and Teamwork:

  • Demonstrate exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Utilize effective and persuasive communication techniques across diverse audiences.
