Position OverviewIn the role of Animal Care Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring that all companion animals and aquatic life receive top-notch care and care management at our Pet Care Center (PCC). You will become the go-to resource for animal care and husbandry. Your efforts will contribute to achieving our budgeted sales and minimizing losses, with a strong focus on merchandising and inventory management.
Through collaboration with the sales team, you'll ensure that our operations run smoothly and efficiently, meeting the diverse needs of guests and their pets. Success in this role requires a genuine passion for animal welfare and a collaborative spirit within the Pet Care Center.
Key ResponsibilitiesA minimum of one year of experience in caring for companion animals and aquatic life is essential. Candidates should have an extensive understanding of these animals and sales techniques. Professional appearance, strong interpersonal skills, and effective communication abilities are required due to interactions with guests and team members.
CertificationSuccessful completion and ongoing maintenance of the Petco Animal Care Certification program is required.
Education/SkillsA high school diploma or GED is necessary. Applicants must also demonstrate proficiency in basic mathematics and accounting, alongside excellent communication skills.
Supervisory ResponsibilityThe majority of tasks will be performed indoors, but occasional guest carryouts and veterinary visits may require brief outdoor activities. The nature of this position involves physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, moving merchandise (up to 50 pounds), and prolonged standing, so adherence to safety procedures is crucial. Flexibility in scheduling, including evenings and weekends, is expected to meet the needs of the PCC.
