Employee duties include:

  • Perform technical and administrative reviews of National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) stormwater construction permit applications to ensure compliance with best engineering practices and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Conduct administrative and technical reviews of individual WV/NPDES stormwater construction permit applications and draft permits for issuance.
  • Interpret and apply federal and state environmental regulations related to stormwater discharges from construction activities.
  • Perform engineering audits by comparing approved design plans with field conditions and effectiveness after construction.
  • Review engineering plans and provide recommendations for improvements to stormwater protection measures associated with reclamation projects.
  • Recommend pollution prevention or discharge elimination methods and calculate drainage volumes to determine appropriate stormwater control structures.

Notes:

  • Regular attendance is an essential part of this position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Training: Current Professional Engineer (PE) license issued by the West Virginia State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.

AND Experience: Seven (7) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in engineering, in which three (3) years must be as a licensed Professional Engineer.

Note: The experience must have been acquired after the bachelor's degree but may have occurred before or after registration as a professional engineer.

Preference will be given to applicants who have experience with NPDES permits; Erosion and Sediment Control Plans; Coordination with the US Army Corps of Engineer. Your complete work history is needed to qualify you for positions. Please be as detailed as possible and list all of your past employment.
