Description:

Boone Memorial Hospital is seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Technician to perform maintenance procedures and general mechanical repairs across hospital facilities. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe, functional, and well-maintained environment for our patients, staff, and visitors. Work is performed under the supervision of the Director of Maintenance and in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
Essential Functions

  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly inspection checks for assigned equipment and areas in accordance with hospital policies.
  • Follow all established safety, security, and sanitation practices.
  • Repair, install, replace, or remove defective or outdated electrical and plumbing devices or equipment in a timely manner.
  • Repair, install, or replace building materials, fixtures, or items as needed.
  • Receive and appropriately respond to verbal, written, and electronic service requests.
  • Complete all required documentation related to maintenance and service tasks.
  • Participate in and assist with departmental projects as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient and staff information in accordance with hospital policies.
  • Perform general maintenance and repair work throughout hospital properties.
  • Maintain outdoor areas: mow lawns, trim shrubs, and keep landscaping/flower beds free of weeds.
  • Keep hospital-owned or leased premises free from debris.
  • Empty trash receptacles regularly and as needed.
  • Keep parking lots and sidewalks free of debris, ice, snow, and other hazards.
  • Perform regular maintenance on laundry equipment, including washers and dryers.
  • Perform routine building maintenance including electrical, plumbing, painting, and ceiling/roof repairs.

Physical Demands

This role requires the ability to perform various physical and motor tasks, including but not limited to:
  • Standing, sitting, and walking for extended periods
  • Lifting up to 60 pounds using proper techniques
  • Climbing stairs, reaching, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, squatting, and continuous arm-hand coordination
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures (0-100°F) and outdoor elements such as rain, snow, sleet, and high winds
  • Occasional exposure to electrical systems, sewage, and drainage systems
  • Ability to work at heights, including on rooftops or while using boom lifts
Travel Requirements
  • Local travel between hospital-owned or leased properties
Required Education & Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in maintenance repairs
  • Ability to read, write, and follow oral/written instructions
  • Ability to multitask and focus amid frequent interruptions
  • Ability to work in varied environments, including exposure to heat, cold, water, grease, chemicals, electrical hazards, noise, odors, and unpredictable situations
  • Ability to interact with courtesy, tact, and efficiency
  • Valid driver's license
  • Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and construction installation, troubleshooting, and repair
Preferred Education & Experience
  • Completion of a vocational education program in maintenance or related field
  • HVAC experience (including systems up to 80-ton units)
  • Experience with Metasys systems
