Join our dynamic team as a Senior Transmission Line Engineering Manager and showcase your skills in leading innovative electric transmission projects. You will oversee a talented group of engineers tackling complex problems in high voltage electric transmission line design for major utilities across the country.

Your expertise will be pivotal in guiding a team that conducts engineering analyses, PLS-CADD modeling, structure loading calculations, foundation designs using MFAD and/or LPILE, and develops comprehensive project plans, specifications, and procurement documents through all phases from planning to construction management.

In this senior leadership role, your responsibilities will include nurturing client relations, developing proposals, managing project execution, and capturing new business. You will motivate and mentor staff, set clear goals, and cultivate a positive team culture, fostering creative problem-solving to address our clients' most challenging issues.

Location: This hybrid position offers flexible work arrangements, with the potential for remote work for the right candidate located in Pennsylvania, Ohio, or West Virginia. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.

The Challenge:

  • Lead multiple engineering teams as they execute diverse projects for various clients.
  • Invest in the growth of your team by providing coaching, training, and support to develop engineering talent.
  • Supervise staff, approve timesheets, and facilitate the performance review process annually.
  • Engage actively within the leadership team of the Transmission Line Section.
  • Craft responses to RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs, defining the scope of work for new projects.
  • Embrace a growth mindset to enhance problem-solving capabilities for our clients.
  • Promote continuous improvement through innovative processes and automation.
  • Delegate tasks effectively, forecast workloads, and participate in recruitment to support our growth objectives.
  • Ensure deliverables meet the highest quality standards through robust quality control processes.
  • Foster strong client relationships to enhance business development and facilitate long-term partnerships.
  • Manage project portfolio health by leveraging project managers to uphold scope, schedule, and budget compliance.

What Sets You Apart (Required):

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering with over eight (8) years of experience in high voltage electric utility transmission system design.
  • Proficiency in PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
  • Engineer In Training (EIT) certification.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Outstanding communication skills to effectively engage with clients.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and the ability to meet key project metrics.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a team setting within a Leidos or client office, with periodic travel as needed.
  • A genuine commitment to mentoring and developing staff.

Favorable Skills:

  • Two or more (2+) years of supervisory experience.
  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Familiarity with TOWER software.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification or ability to obtain it within six months.
  • Experience with LPILE or FAD, Mathcad, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and GIS is advantageous.
