Principal Structural Engineer

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is actively searching for a Principal Structural Engineer for our client's operation near Elkview / Charleston, WV. This is a long-term contract position with competitive pay. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a state-of-the-art project.

The Principal Structural Engineer will lead the analysis and design of structures and foundations for large-scale chemical and power subsector projects. This role combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring compliance with ASCE, AISC, IBC, and ACI standards while guiding project teams from concept through execution.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of progressive civil/structural engineering experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of structural codes and standards including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, and PIP.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis/design software (STAAD Pro, RISA 3D).
  • Familiarity with Tekla, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strong ability to interpret and develop civil/structural drawings and specifications.
  • Proven ability to lead mid-size projects and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with clients, stakeholders, and colleagues.
