General Description
To perform general maintenance and repair to the grounds, buildings and equipment for the facility in order to maintain a safe environment for residents and staff. Physical activities/duties include, but not limited to, painting, carpentry, plumbing, minor electrical, masonry, and outside grounds work. Performing repairs to walls, floors, steps, doors, window frames, plumbing fixtures (including toilets, sinks, showers, tubs, faucets, pipes/drains and water heaters), moving furniture, loading and unloading supplies. Maintain proper documentation on work orders. Respond to fire alarms and provide assistance. Seasonal grounds work; mowing, trimming, snow removal, sweeping/salting sidewalks, picking up trash and wood debris. Scheduled to meet the needs of the facility which may include schedule adjustments and alternate duties and shifts as assigned. Mandatory overtime is an essential function of this position. Performs related duties as required. Assist other maintenance staff.

Applicants selected for employment must successfully complete a chemical urinalysis drug and breath analysis alcohol screening test. All employees shall be subject to drug and alcohol testing for probable cause as set forth in agency and bureau policies. Applicants must successfully pass a background check.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:

None.

Licensure/Certifications:

May require specific licensure/certifications based on assignment.

Experience:

Two (2) years of full time or equivalent part-time experience in performing maintenance and repair work in one or more building maintenance trades (e.g., electrical, carpentry, welding, plumbing, sheet metal, painting).
