We are seeking a Specialty Highway Project Manager to join our growing Construction Group in Waverly, West Virginia. The successful candidate will work directly with the Group Vice President and fellow project managers. Comprehensive training will be provided to ensure a full understanding of our work processes, performance standards, and equipment operation. The right candidate will be placed in our growing specialty divisions.
Our Construction Division operates in multiple states. This role will require travel to various job sites.
We are looking for a team-oriented, mechanically inclined leader who is a quick learner, a creative problem-solver, and able to interpret and manage complex construction projects.
Requirements
· Bachelor's Degree in Applied Science (Engineering) — required or technical experience progressing through the ranks as a journeyman, foreman to a superintendent.
· Ability to understand and interpret construction plans, specifications, and state-specific requirements that affect cost and production
· Willingness to travel to multiple states and remain accessible after standard business hours, as subcontractor roles frequently require schedule adjustments and rapid responsiveness.
· Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills
· Operate and set a standard for 24/7 safety culture for crews being managed.
Responsibilities
· Direct and manage all phases of construction projects from inception to completion, including budgeting, scheduling, risk management, quality assurance, safety compliance, and regulatory adherence.
· Lead, mentor, and develop alongside other project managers, assistant project managers, superintendents, foremen, and field staff to maximize performance, efficiency, and quality.
· Coordinate and optimize scheduling of crews, equipment, and resources to ensure on-time and cost-effective project delivery.
· Track and analyze job costs, equipment utilization, and production/expense metrics to maintain profitability and operational efficiency.
· Conduct site visits, pre-bid meetings, and pre-construction meetings to support planning and execution.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, owners, general contractors, regulatory agencies, and internal teams.
· Identify and pursue new business opportunities in target market sectors to drive company growth.
· Engage in hands-on field work alongside crews to strengthen operational insight and team collaboration.
· Recruit, train, and develop CDL operators, laborers, and other field staff to support project demands.
· Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all equipment, materials, and operational processes.
· Manage ancillary project components such as water control, disposal, trucking, rentals, and logistics.
· Champion product development and process innovation initiatives to improve work execution and efficiency.
· Diagnose and resolve project-related challenges to maintain schedules and quality standards.
· Prepare and deliver progress reports to executive leadership for informed decision-making.
· Implement continuous improvement strategies to streamline operations and enhance results.
· Obtain and maintain a CDL to provide operational flexibility for equipment transport when needed.
