Cultural Resource Analysts, Inc. (CRA) seeks a Staff Archaeologist with regional experience in the Ohio Valley, including Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania for a position in our Hurricane, West Virginia office. We are looking for a dedicated professional seeking a permanent, full-time position with the opportunity for advancement. Salary is between $50,000 and $65,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Experience leading field crews and writing technical reports is a requirement for this position..
Specific skills we are looking for in this position include:
• Experience in leading crews of archaeological field technicians and conducting phase I archaeological surveys and phase II archaeological evaluations, including shovel testing and excavation.
• Strong writing and communication skills.
• Experience in writing and research associated with phase I and phase II technical reports.
• A clear understanding of Section 106 and the ability to apply the associated criteria.

Responsibilities:
• Direct and manage compliance projects for clients in both the public and private sectors.
• Assist in the development of scopes of work and oversee projects.
• Conduct pre-field and archival research.
• Supervise field staff and manage field crews in rugged piedmont and mountain terrain.
• Conduct fieldwork for archaeological monitoring, survey, and evaluation in rugged piedmont and mountain terrain, including projects that may require stays away from home.
• Conduct analyses, interpret analytical data, and prepare technical reports for archaeological monitoring, survey, and evaluation.
• Interact with clients in a professional and effective manner.
Qualifications:
• A graduate degree in Anthropology is strongly preferred;
• Qualification under the Secretary of the Interior Standards (48 FR 44716) in archaeology;
• A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Staff Archaeologist or Crew Chief employing the specific skills cited above.
• Must have the ability to work 8-to-10-hour days in a variety of field conditions. Stooping, bending, and lifting are essential functions of these positions in rugged Appalachian terrain.
