Lincoln County Schools JOB DESCRIPTION GENERAL MAINTENANCE

A. RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Under the general supervision and is responsible for performing general maintenance tasks on all Lincoln County School property as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor and Director, or crew leader.

B. RELATIONSHIP TO OTHERS:

1. Works under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, Director and Immediate Supervisor
2. To work cooperatively with all staff to ensure the effective and safe completion of all maintenance tasks to which assigned.
C. HOW SELECTED:

1. Application
2. Interview
3. Recommendation by the Superintendent
4. Employment by the Board of Education

D. QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:

1. High School Diploma or GED
2. Successful passage of the State Competency Test for General Maintenance or holds that classification or has previously held the classification as General Maintenance.
3. Any combination of training and experience which would lead to success- ful employment as a general maintenance worker, such as:
a. Proven work experience and general knowledge of the Standards, methods, tasks and materials used in:
1. Plumbing
2. Electrical Work
3. Painting
4. Carpentry
5. Roofing
6. Groundskeeping and
7. Truck Driving

4. Ability to work within specified times and materials lists.
5. Ability to work from drawings and specifications.
6. Ability to maintain simple records.
7. Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
8. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others.
9. Possession of a valid State of West Virginia motor vehicle operator's license.
E. FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

1. Perform general preventive maintenance in the areas of plumbing, electricity, painting, carpentry, roofing and groundskeeping on Lincoln County Schools property.
2. Do incidental painting, masonry and related building trades work
3. Move equipment and furniture in schools and offices.
4. Responsible for the direction of the work of any assigned helpers.
5. Accept general maintenance assignments from the Maintenance Supervisor.
6. Promote high standards of safety and good housekeeping methods in all work-connected areas.
7. Participate in in-service training as directed.
8. Perform other duties assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Immediate Supervisor.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 226-240 Days - Salary based on job classification and pay scale established for service personnel.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Service Personnel.
Salary based on eperience and education level per county BOE salary schedule plus competitive benefits package equal to approximateley 35% od direct compenation.
