Under general supervision of the Chief Hearing Officer, conducts and renders decisions in formal inmate disciplinary hearings in a state correctional facility. An employee in this class is responsible for scheduling and conducting administrative fact-finding hearings on disciplinary reports issued to inmates for alleged commissions of misconduct, including criminal acts. Duties may include supervision of a bailiff and office assistant in preparation of documents, hearing procedures and hearing related activities. Exercises general independence and judgment in evaluating testimony, evidence and rendering decisions based upon established detailed guidelines and regulations. All rulings are appealable to the institution superintendent who must approve any loss of inmate good time credit.
