Employee will be assigned to the Division of Water and Waste Management, Office of Environmental Enforcement.

Employee duties and expectations:

  • Works under general supervision of the Regional Environmental Inspector Supervisor to support efficient office operations.
  • Must learn Environmental Enforcement (EE) functions in detail due to Supervisor's frequent field duties.
  • Expected to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and communicate agency rules and regulations effectively to diverse individuals.
  • Performs word processing and types general correspondence, forms, memoranda, and technical reports for EE and other agency staff.
  • Maintains electronic filing systems and retrieves information for reports.
  • Answers and screens telephone calls, referring callers appropriately.
  • Responds to inquiries from government agencies, the public, and the regulated community regarding enforcement policies, rules, and statutes.
  • Records spill reports and complaints accurately and forwards them to the proper personnel.
  • Compiles records of inspections and enforcement activities.
  • Drafts routine correspondence for the Supervisors signature.
  • Prepares and processes travel requests, expense accounts, office supply requisitions, and reconciles purchasing card transactions.
  • Sorts and distributes incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Schedules meetings and makes travel/reservation arrangements for staff.
  • Manages and maintains filing systems for permits, inspections, correspondence, and other documents.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Notes:

  • Regular attendance is an essential part of this position.
