Position Summary:

HVA, Inc. (A Ryker Company – www.rykerholdings.com) is seeking a Director of Maintenance to join a team providing critical services to the nation's infrastructure. HVA, Inc. is a Transmission Line and Aviation contractor offering repair and inspection services to the electric utility industry across the U.S.

The Director of Maintenance (DOM) oversees all maintenance operations, focusing on the growth of the company's MD 500 helicopter fleet. Responsibilities include ensuring FAA compliance, aircraft airworthiness, and operational safety through effective planning, scheduling, and execution of maintenance, inspections, and repairs. The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a dedication to operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aircraft maintenance activities, including line and heavy maintenance, inspections, repairs, and modifications.
  • Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, company policies, and OEM standards.
  • Supervise and mentor maintenance staff, ensuring proper training and certification.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records per regulatory and internal standards.
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules to reduce aircraft downtime and enhance readiness.
  • Act as the primary liaison with FAA, manufacturers, and vendors regarding maintenance and airworthiness.
  • Manage maintenance budget, including cost control, parts procurement, and vendor negotiations.
  • Develop and implement Safety Management System (SMS) protocols.
  • Lead internal audits, compliance reviews, and corrective actions.
  • Participate in fleet planning, aircraft acquisitions, and maintenance strategy development.

Qualifications:

  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license required; Inspection Authorization (IA) preferred.
  • At least 10 years of helicopter maintenance experience, with a minimum of 5 years in leadership roles.
  • Deep knowledge of FAA regulations, OEM technical data, and industry best practices.
  • Experience with rotorcraft MD 500 required; UH-60 experience is a plus.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with maintenance tracking software.
  • Additional training or coursework in aviation maintenance, aerospace engineering, or related fields is preferred.

Work Environment & Conditions:

  • Remote or on-site at Charleston, WV, with regular communication to the Executive Team.
  • Travel to remote bases or field locations.
  • Availability for emergency maintenance and AOG situations.
