The Program:YWCA Sojourner's Shelter for Homeless Women & Families provides emergency shelter and supportive services around the clock, every day of the year, for homeless single women, women with children, men with custody of their children, and intact families. This 75-bed facility offers a secure, healthy environment with crisis intervention, case management, and counseling to help individuals achieve long-term self-sufficiency. We maintain a successful recidivism rate of about five (5) percent annually, well below the national average of individuals returning to shelters. Children's programs include computer and art classes, tutoring, drug-free education, supportive counseling, and field trips. Recovering from and preventing future homelessness is our goal for all who take shelter with us.The Position:The Executive Director manages and administers the Sojourner's program, emphasizing quality services for homeless individuals and families while ensuring fiscal responsibility. Provide onsite guidance and supervision to staff and residents; collaborate with the Chief Program Officer to ensure facility compliance, safety, enhancement, and maintenance; and promote participant growth, recovery, economic resources, and housing stabilization.Qualifications: Possess a bachelor's degree in social work, related field, or equivalent experience.Comprehensive knowledge of the homeless population and available community resources.Demonstrated financial management and budgetary experience.Proven in supervisory, administrative, and management strategies.Additional Requisites: Strong organizational and communication skills.Proven ability to identify and secure grant funding, including collaborating with grant managers to develop and submit proposals.Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with partnering agencies.Strong skills in crisis management, including knowledge of intervention strategies.Ability to develop and deliver community education programs on issues related to homelessness.Comprehensive knowledge of social service laws, regulations, and programs, with the ability to identify and develop relevant community resources.The ability to effectively multi-task and maintain productivity in a fast-paced environment.Work around moderate noise, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift or carry up to 25 lbs.Have and maintain a valid driver's license.Must pass a criminal background check.Responsibilities: Adhere to the YWCA of Charleston Employee Handbook and all Rules, Procedures, and Protocols, including maintaining professional boundaries with clients and residents.Manage staff by hiring, orienting, training, and evaluating; take corrective action, document issues, or terminate employment as needed.Develop and monitor the program budget, overseeing all expenditures.Ensure timely data recording and submission to meet reporting requirements for partnering agencies, funders, and in-house requests.Identify and pursue funding opportunities, collaborate with the YWCA Grant Manager, review grants before submission, and maintain relationships with community leaders, partnering agencies, and funders.Establish record-keeping standards and train staff in proper reporting procedures, collaborating with the Assistant Director to ensure relief coverage.Plan and conduct solution-driven staff meetings monthly or as needed.Supervise scheduled maintenance with the Assistant Director/Facility Manager and maintain proper inventory control of program facilities, equipment, and furnishings.Supervise all staff to achieve quality performance that adheres to regulations and standards, and issue corrective actions as needed.Develop and maintain partner relationships with state, federal, and other homeless agencies and non-profits to further the mission and improve funding sources.Monitor financial aspects of individual grants, program income, and staffing.Meet with other agencies and funders to explore expanded collaboration opportunities.Develop, coordinate with Marketing & Development, and implement all program fundraisers.Oversee the submission of all program reports and billings.Arrange and present community educational programs.Serve on committees, task forces, and boards to benefit and strengthen the program.Monitor and evaluate in-house resident programs with the Assistant Director and develop new programs as needed.Monitor all program requests, purchases, and expenditures.Attend and participate in all YWCA staff meetings and other requested meetings.Address staff grievances with the VP of Human Resources, Chief Program Officer, and Chief Executive Officer.Participate in resident sanction hearings as needed.Keep the Chief Program Officer informed of program needs, functions, problems, issues, and successes.Develop and implement new program policies with approval from the Chief Program Officer and/or Chief Executive Officer.Assist with crises as needed.Facilitate house meetings with residents in conjunction with the Assistant Director.Perform other duties as assigned.Why Should You Apply?
