Description
We're looking for an enthusiastic food prep worker who can deliver outstanding results in the kitchen prepping meals for our chef/cook. Your main responsibilities will be to stock, prepare, and measure condiments and slice and dice foods. You'll keep your workstation and equipment clean and follow all required safety protocols.
Good organization skills, the ability to take directions well, and to read recipe instructions and labels in English, as well as handle a variety of kitchen equipment, sharp knives, and measuring tools are required. Some experience and an associate's degree are preferred but not required. If you are a positive self-starter who can work with minimal supervision, we want to meet you! Responsibilities
• Assist other cooks in the kitchen as needed with preparing simple menu items
• Handle simple cooking tasks such as brewing coffee or tea, preparing soups and reducing sauces, and assisting others in the kitchen when necessary
• Follow instructions for recipes. Read meal charts and labels in English and use the measuring tools correctly
• Keep all prep and workstation areas organized and equipment hygienic and sanitized at closing
• Abide by food safety guidelines and implement COVID-19 safety measures in all food prep areas and stations where food is prepared and kitchen equipment is used
• Use the correct amounts of condiments, wash all fruits and vegetables to be peeled, diced, and sliced, slice meats, and mix a variety of sauces
Qualifications
• Prefer someone with some kitchen prep experience and associate's degree (AA) or equivalent, but it is not required
• You have the basic skills necessary to prep food for a chef/cook with minimal supervision expected
• Understanding of how to read recipes, meal charts, measuring tools, and labels in English
• Available to work weekends and holidays, pitching in extra hours whenever needed
• Must be comfortable handling sharp knives and other kitchen tools when prepping food
