Traffic Engineer

Description:

Duties: Primary duties of HDR's Traffic Engineer include:

  • Working on traffic forecasting, analysis, and design needs for a variety of transportation projects, including:
          • Crash analysis and mitigation strategies;
          • Signing and striping;
          • Temporary traffic control; and
          • Traffic signals; and








  • Performing operational traffic analyses using a variety of modeling tools ranging from highway capacity software to complex micro-simulation models for projects including isolated intersections and roundabouts to urban arterials and freeway segments.


Assignments may include conducting field work to collect data such as traffic counts, inventories, or field measurements.

Requirements: Master's Degree in Civil Engineering and 6 months' experience in traffic/transportation engineering or a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and 2 years' experience in traffic/transportation engineering.

Education must include coursework in traffic and/or transportation engineering.

Required experience may include professional, internship, or graduate research experience.

Proficiency in: Synchro/Sim Traffic; HCS; and MicroStation. Proficiency may have been gained through academic program or professional, internship, or graduate research experience.

Engineer-in-Training or equivalent certification required; Professional Engineering licensure is not a prerequisite for this position.
