Summary: Under the supervision of the Vehicle Maintenance Crew Leader; the Mechanic shall be responsible for performing a broad range of vehicle maintenance and repairs on City fleet vehicles and equipment.

Work Hours: This position will be expected to work a schedule necessary to accomplish City and departmental goals, a normal work schedule is Monday through Friday 2:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and may also including nights, weekends and /or holidays as required.

Essential Duties: include the following. Other and /or additional duties may be assigned. All assigned duties should be performed in an efficient, effective and safe manner.

Diagnoses and repairs mechanical, electrical and other identified problems on city fleet vehicles and equipment.

Preforms preventative maintenance as needed and or scheduled.

Performs West Virginia State and DOT inspections on city fleet vehicles as required.

Completes assigned work orders in an efficient and effective manner.

Maintains vehicle records by recording service and repairs.

Education / Experience: High School Diploma or GED perfered; Three (3) years hands-on motor vehicle mechanical repair and troubleshooting experience.

Certifications / Licenses: Must Possess or acquire a valid State of West Virginia Class A CDL License within six (6) months from date of hire. Must possess and/or obtain the following three (3) ASE Certifications within the 12 month probationary period as a condition of employment. G1 Auto Maintenance and Light Repair Certification Test; which demonstrates knowledge of the skills necessary to successfully perform the most common maintenance and light repair tasks, T1 & T8 Medium/Heavy Truck Certification Tests; which demonstrate knowledge of the skills necessary to diagnose, service, and repair different systems of Class-4 through Class-8 trucks and tractors. Required ASE's must be maintained during tenure of employment.

Must provide own basic tools will discuss during interview.
