About the Job:
The Physician Assistant provides health care services to patients under direction and responsibility of physician. Assists the physician with the clinical operation of the program. Delivers medical and psychotherapeutic care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Performs Medical Assessment of clients/patients of the facility to determine general physical condition, following standard medical procedures. Completes documentation in the medical record accurately and timely recording all care rendered.

• Organizes data concerning patient's family, personal (medical and mental) history, and onset of symptoms obtained from patient, relative and other source such as registered nurse or social worker.

• Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in provision of continuity of care in compliance with all industry, Medicare and federal or state licensing standards which relate to the clinical management of patients admitted to the facility.

• Provides emergency services in the absence of the physician, including primary care for trauma, care/suturing of minor lacerations, casting/splinting, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, control of external hemorrhage and other procedures.

• Prescribes medications and treatments for illnesses in accordance with state regulations.

• Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens.

• Provides therapeutic treatments (disinfecting wounds, stitching etc.).

• Orders laboratory and other special diagnostic tests, as may be required. Evaluates data upon receipt.

• Provides patient education and guidance to the clinical staff working with assigned patients to assure that quality of care is provided.

• Works collaboratively with the physician in planning, instituting, evaluating, and revising care plans; assists in determining conditions, resources, and policies essential to the delivery of health care services.

• Coordinates patient care activities through ongoing consultation with the facility leadership team, such as clinical director, nursing director and medical director.

• May aid in the development and review of facility treatment philosophy, programs, services, and policies for all patients admitted to his/her care.

• Reviews medical reports released under the name of the Facility for assigned patients.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• Master's degree - Physician Assistant Specialty program from an accredited school required.

• One or more years' experience working with patient population of the facility required.

LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

• Current professional Physician Assistant license required, per state regulations/requirements; may also require a current DEA license.
