Job Summary
Effective surveillance of all Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry. Employee may access secure medication supply areas to complete assigned job duties.
Responsibilities
•Maintain visitor control by monitoring incoming persons and personnel as well as those leaving for illegal possessions. •Direct traffic as necessary and enforce hospital parking regulations. •Provide assistance to visitors as necessary. •Provide escort service as requested. •Assist discharge patients to automobiles as requested. •Tour hospital grounds and buildings and make rounds of hospital floors and various areas and facilities, while checking in at various stations. •Inspect assigned areas for unusual or hazardous conditions, reporting such conditions to the Maintenance Department or the Security Shift Supervisor. •Assist in emergencies such as fire, unruly persons, or violations of hospital regulations in accordance with standard policies and procedures. •Use independent judgment in handling emergency situations in accordance with standard policy and procedure.All new hire Security officers will complete Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training and a refresher course every two years
