Job Summary
Responsible for managing the medication use process - prescribing, dispensing, administration, and monitoring throughout the medical center, and for applying basic knowledge about drugs and drug therapy to the care and treatment of patients.
Responsibilities
• Review medication orders and enter onto the patient's pharmacy profile. Evaluate the appropriateness of therapy and screens for drug-drug interactions, drug allergy interactions, therapeutic duplication, age appropriate dosing, or other contraindications, as appropriate for practice site. • Dispense medications with appropriate labeling. Compound sterile and non-sterile products when requested, as appropriate for practice site. • Respond to and assist on 1-2-3 Cardiac Arrests, as applicapable to practice site. • Use appropriate resources to provide drug information to physicians and other health care providers associated with the institution. • Provide any clinical services as identified by the department. • Supervise pharmacy technicians. Participate in performance planning and review of pharmacy technicians. • Keep abreast of literature and current developments in the pharmacy profession.
