Job Summary

The Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC/Vandalia Health) seeks a Clinical Social Worker (MSW, LICSW) to join the Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry, located in the Heart & Vascular Center at CAMC Memorial Hospital in Charleston, WV. CAMC is an academic medical center that hosts 23 residency and fellowship training programs. The Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry (BMP) operates a large Psychiatry residency, a strong Psychology Internship, and the longest running integrated Internal Medicine and Psychiatry residency in the nation. Our providers treat thousands of patients annually from Southern West Virginia and neighboring states, and CAMC has multiple nationally recognized specialty care programs.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be a Social Worker trained in clinical interventions with individual adults. The opportunity to offer these direct psychotherapeutic interventions is the focus of this position. Clinical services will be provided in the outpatient clinical setting. Services include initial intakes with psychosocial assessments, short and long-term psychotherapy, referrals for psychological testing and/or psychiatric consultation, referrals for services outside the department when indicated, and termination when indicated. The successful candidate will provide evidenced-based interventions. They will function well within an interprofessional collaborative care team of Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Nurse Practitioners, Counselors, Administrators and Support Staff, each valuable contributors to the services to our vulnerable patients. The position includes clinical teaching responsibilities for Social Work Interns and others as requested. This internship for social workers is highly respected and generally accepts two interns per academic year. The position may also include didactic instruction, such as presenting Grand Rounds lectures to the department and teaching medical student lectures or conducting specific seminars with Residents as needed. The faculty members of the Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry have the opportunity to engage in interdisciplinary research with others in the department. This is not a primary expectation for this position but can be elected both by the clinician and interns when appropriate.

Education
• Master's Degree (Required) Master's degree (or Doctorate degree) from an accredited school of social work with course work and experience in clinical practice.

Credentials
• Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (Required) Must have and maintain licensure as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and required continuing education for licensure.Provide evidenced-based psychological services to patients. Strong grounding in social work ethics. Motivation and organizational abilities to sustain effort consistently and independently.
