The Admissions Counselor position is non-classified and responsible for supporting all aspects of the admissions process, student recruiting, and new student orientation. This entry-level professional role involves traveling primarily within our four-county service region (Kanawha, Fayette, Putnam, Clay) to visit high schools and attend college fairs, providing information to prospective students to encourage applications.
Additional duties include assisting in recruitment efforts and public relations campaigns, managing recruitment paperwork and travel arrangements, reviewing and processing applicant files, and ensuring file completeness. The Admissions Counselor will act as a liaison between the Admissions Office, academic departments, and public school counselors, assist in developing and evaluating recruitment strategies, and contribute to marketing efforts and data reporting.
The role requires critical human relations skills to build effective relationships with faculty, staff, students, and community members and involves some flexibility in prioritizing and organizing work.
